Montgomery & Wheaton Mall Openings

Food courts are back open in Montgomery County. Montgomery Mall has opened theirs up at 25% capacity while Wheaton Mall has theirs open at 50% capacity. In February, Montgomery Mall had turned a portion of its outdoor garage into an “enchanted forest dining area”  to provide a space for shoppers to dine.

Earlier this week we reported that Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, owner of Westfield Montgomery and Wheaton, plan to sell all of it’s US holdings by 2022 due the affects of the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020.  Shopping malls, which were already hurting due to the rise of Amazon and online shopping, were hit especially hard the past year.

On March 5th, Wheaton Mall announced that Jollibee’s opening had been delayed because the restaurant is still waiting on county permits. Reps from the mall tell us that Jollibee will make an announcement seven days prior to their official grand opening. No specific details about the opening are known at this time.

Tea Mansion and Perfume Palace have both opened up this month at Westfield Montgomery. Tea Mansion is a specialty tea shop based in Washington, DC that sells organic and natural teas from around the world.  Perfume Palace sells designer fragrances at discounted prices.  Last month Avalon Lifestyle Nail Salon re-opened their salon at a new location inside the mall.
