Montgomery County’s Department of Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) Walnut Hill store, located at 16535 S Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg, will be closed today, Wednesday, Jan. 5, due to a staffing shortage. The nearby King Farm store remains open.
The King Farm store is located at 302 King Farm Blvd., Suite 120, in Rockville. It is expected that the Walnut Hill store will resume regular hours on Thursday, Jan. 5, but customers are encouraged to check the ABS website here before visiting the store.
ABS is the alcohol wholesaler of beer, wine, and spirits for Montgomery County and operates 26 retail stores throughout the County. In addition, ABS manages alcohol licensing, enforcement and education for more than 1,000 businesses. Generating more than $30 million in net income annually, its profits are used to pay down County debt with a large portion deposited in the general fund to pay for resident services that would otherwise be funded by County tax dollars.
