Montgomery County Judge Rules Against MDOT in Toll Lanes Lawsuit

A Montgomery County Circuit Court judge has ordered the state of Maryland to reconsider its decision to award a $54 million contract to Accelerate Maryland Partners, an international conglomerate comprised of  toll road developer Transurb, and Australian financial services group Macquarie, according to a report by Maryland Matters.

On Thursday, Judge John M. Maloney ruled that Maryland Department of Transportation was wrong to reject others bids on the project based on timeliness grounds.

The protest was filed by Capital Express Mobility Partners, a group that includes Spanish firms Cintra and Ferrovial, who were losing bidders on the project.

According to the report, “the ruling will force the agency to revisit its selection of Accelerate Maryland Partners. Hogan (R), who is term-limited, is pushing to get the controversial toll lanes project to a point of no return before he leaves office in January — and the court ruling could imperil the tight timeline.”
