“She’s been playing for years with nary a win of any substance but that all changed during the Powerball run-up to the $754.6 million jackpot win. A North Bethesda player won a $50,000 third-tier prize in the Feb. 6 drawing while a player in Washington state matched every number and won $754.6 million. The Montgomery County player’s score, however, was hardly a disappointment. “It was a nice blessing,” she said. “I guess I’m just about even.”
She was one of three who bought third-tier winning tickets in Maryland for the Feb. 6 drawing. Nationwide, 74 players won third-tier prizes and six won second-tier prizes. The lucky lady has no current plans for her prize, but said, “I guess my investing husband will put it in the bank.”
She typically buys her Lottery games at the shop where she got her hot ticket, Gourmet Beer & Wine at 11530 Rockville Pike in Rockville. The loyal player plans to continue buying tickets there and, in fact, had already bought her ticket there for the next drawing.Tonight’s Powerball drawing is for an estimated jackpot annuity of $57 million with a cash option of $30.1 million.”
