Montgomery County Police Receive Reports of Person Impersonating Officer; Reminds Residents Department Will Never Call Public and Ask for Money

After receiving reports that a person impersonating a Montgomery County Police officer was calling residents, the MCPD issued a reminder stating that the department would never contact a community member or resident to ask for money. MCPD tweeted the following: “We have received reports of a person allegedly impersonating a MCP officer. No dept. personnel would ever call a resident or community member & ask for money. To ensure you are speaking w/ a real officer, ask for a badge number & call the Emergency Communication Center to verify.”

According to a police spokesperson, no one was scammed and no money was taken by the individual alleging to be an officer.
