On Wednesday, WUSA9 reporter Lorenzo Hall tweeted footage of what appears to be several individuals walking out of a CVS in Bethesda with bags full of merchandise. According to police, “MCPD received a call for a shoplifting at approximately 6:48 p.m., at a CVS in the 4600 block of Sagamore Rd. Officers responded and determined that three suspects entered the store and stole an unknown amount of merchandise. No injuries were reported and there are no suspects in custody at this time.” WUSA9 also reports that a different CVS three miles away at 4859 Macarthur Boulevard in Northwest, DC was also robbed just an hour prior.
On Thursday, Councilmember Andrew Friedson tweeted the following: “Share concern and alarm related to a string of store thefts over the past 2 weeks in our community and along the corridor in DC. I’ve been communicating with @2dCommander Daum and really appreciate @mcpnews 2nd District coordinating with @DCPoliceDept to respond and investigate.”
