8:15PM Update: Festivities have resumed at both Gaithersburg SummerFest and Mid-County Sparkles. Fireworks will begin at both events around 9:15pm.
Due to thunderstorms, the City of Gaithersburg has temporarily evacuated Bohrer Park (506 S. Frederick Ave) ahead of tonight’s SummerFest fireworks display. At this point the fireworks, which are scheduled begin at 9:15pm, have not officially been cancelled. The Independence Day celebration at Einstein High School in Wheaton has also been paused. We will post an update on both when it is available.

Montgomery County Recreation tweeted the following: “Due to inclement weather, our Independence Day celebration at Einstein High School is currently paused. Those at the event should seek shelter using the school’s cafeteria and the Ride On shuttle buses”
