Gold’s Gym in Gaithersburg Has Closed

Gold’s Gym at 18810 Woodfield Rd in Gaithersburg, located next to the Montgomery County Airpark, has closed. The gym’s last day in business was Friday, August 25. The chain recently opened a new location at 12922 Middlebrook Rd in the former location of DSW in the Germantown Commons shopping center. According to an email Gold’s Gym sent to members earlier this month, “The county is taking the land back under what is called eminent domain relating to the neighboring airfield – we are being required to exit and turn the building back over to the landlord.” Full email below:

Important Update on Gold’s Gym Gaithersburg (Airpark)
Dear Gold’s Gym Member,

We have some important news to share about your membership at Gold’s Gym Airpark and want to be transparent in our communication of some upcoming changes set to occur this month. The county is taking the land back under what is called eminent domain relating to the neighboring airfield – we are being required to exit and turn the building back over to the landlord. This is out of our control, unfortunately, and we are forced to permanently close Gold’s Gym Airpark on August 25th, 2023.

Upon our exit, we want to assure you we are still committed to being your fitness home of choice. Effective August 25th, your membership will transfer to the NEW Gold’s Gym Germantown location, and you will still have access to 18 locations in the DMV – Including the following nearby locations:

Gold’s Gym Germantown – 12922 Middlebrook Road, Germantown, Maryland 20874

Gold’s Gym Rockville Townsquare | 26 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850 (6 mi)

Gold’s Gym Olney | 18330 Village Center Dr, Olney, MD 20832 (7 mi)

Gold’s Gym Wintergreen | 835 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852 (8 mi)

Here are a few highlights of what you can expect at our new Germantown location:

Spacious and well-equipped workout areas: the gym boasts an expansive and fully equipped 26,000 sq ft of space. You’ll find a diverse selection of fitness options, including a wide range of cardio machines, state-of-the-art strength training equipment featuring our new Gym80 line and a dedicated recovery room for post-workout needs.

Functional Training Turf Area: The gym has a 2,500 square foot turf area, which includes 8 lifting platforms and multiple hip thrust machines to help you focus on all your fitness needs.

Group exercise classes: You’ll have access to dedicated areas for various Les Mills powered group exercise classes, such as yoga, spin, Zumba, and more. These classes provide an excellent opportunity to work out with others, stay motivated, and have fun while exercising.

Personal training services: Certified professionals are available to provide personalized training programs tailored to your individual needs. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gym-goer, they will assist you in achieving your fitness goals effectively and safely.

Locker rooms and infrared saunas: After your workout, you can relax and refresh in the locker rooms, which come equipped with convenient amenities. The infrared saunas offer an excellent way to unwind and rejuvenate post-workout.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will do our best to assist throughout this transition. As always, we are committed to helping you reach your potential through fitness, and we hope you continue your fitness journey with us!

Gold’s Gym will also be opening a Silver Spring location in the space that was occupied by Washington Sports Club until Fall 2020. While it was initially expected to open in 2023, a representative from the recently opened Germantown location has let us know that a late 2023/early 2024 opening is now in the cards.
