Bagels ‘n Grinds and a “Modernized” Potomac Pizza Coming to Potomac Village

Bagels & Grinds is coming to 9812 Falls Road in the Potomac Village shopping center. The New York-style bagel spot will be located in the space that was previously occupied by The Potomac Village Deli. Bagels & Grinds is owned by Adam and Courtney Greenberg, owners of Potomac Pizza and the recently acquired Hunter’s Bar and Grill,  both of which are also located in Potomac Village. Bagels ‘n Grinds is expected to open mid-2024. In a press release, the company also announced plans to renovate the original Potomac Pizza location, which includes adding a full bar. Full details below:

“Adam and Courtney Greenberg, owners of Potomac Pizza, Bagels ‘n Grinds, and the recently acquired Hunter’s Bar and Grill, today announced plans to further transform the Potomac culinary scene by bringing Bagels ‘n Grinds to the Potomac Village. The Greenbergs, who took over full operations of Hunter’s Bar and Grill on Wednesday, September 27th with longtime manager and partner Daniel Seaman and Corporate Chef Tennille Middleton (Chef Tee), additionally announced the renovation of the original Potomac Pizza.

Located at 9812 Falls Road, the renovation of Potomac Pizza and the opening of Bagels ‘n Grinds are expected to be completed in mid-2024. Bagels ‘n Grinds is set to take over the vacant retail space adjacent to Potomac Pizza once occupied by The Potomac Village Deli, a previous Greenberg-owned business.

The arrival of Bagels ‘n Grinds to the Potomac Village will fill a longtime void for a grab-and-go breakfast and lunch option. Bagels ‘n Grinds offers a menu featuring nineteen bagel flavors, nine different spreads, omelet-style bagel sandwiches, salads, soups, “baginis,” and traditional sandwiches. Bagels ‘n Grinds also features a 28-foot beverage station stocked with brewed coffee, iced coffee, iced tea, soda, and a full espresso and frozen drink menu at the counter.

Making Bagels ‘n Grinds unique from other local bagel shops is the glass-enclosed water treatment facility viewable to the public at both existing locations and to be installed in Potomac. The water treatment facility mimics the water that flows from the Catskill Mountains into New York City, adding the same minerals that flow in New York City water to the water used at Bagels ‘n Grinds. “The ability to use ultra-purified water in the bagel-making process enhances the texture and flavor of our bagels,” says Greenberg. The treatment facility makes three types of water, “allowing us to not only use the water in the bagel making process, but also in our ice, water, soda, fresh brewed coffee, and iced tea.” The ultra-filtered water used in the boiling process allows Bagels ‘n Grinds to offer authentic New York bagels with a perfect crunchy outside and soft inside. Solidifying Bagels ‘n Grinds as an authentic New York bagelry is their inclusion of both boiling and hearth baking the bagels in the bagel making process.

In addition to the arrival of Bagels ‘n Grinds, the Greenbergs announced renovation plans for the original Potomac Pizza located in the Potomac Village. The renovation will modernize the family pizza joint, bringing a more contemporary look similar to that of the College Park location. Potomac Pizza will add a full bar and expand their menu offerings to include new Italian dishes unique to the Potomac Village location. The newly renovated Potomac Pizza will be run by longtime Potomac Pizza manager and partner Andy Goldstein, who has been with the company since 2010.

With the addition of Bagels ‘n Grinds, a Potomac Pizza renovation, and the acquisition of Hunter’s Bar and Grill, the Greenbergs are in the midst of bringing the most exciting changes to the Potomac culinary scene since 1978, when Hunter’s Bar and Grill and Potomac Pizza originally opened.

Bagels ‘n Grinds Potomac will be Adam and Courtney Greenberg’s ninth fully-operating restaurant. The Greenbergs currently own and operate eight restaurants: five Potomac Pizza locations, two Bagels ‘n Grinds locations, and Hunter’s Bar and Grill. Upon the arrival of Bagels ‘n Grinds Potomac, the Greenbergs will independently operate three restaurants in the Potomac Village.
