Garden of Lights Winter Lights Display Opens Today

Per Montgomery County: Montgomery Parks is turning Brookside Gardens into a winter wonderland next week, with the opening of the Garden of Lights. The seasonal light display, featuring more than one million twinkling lights opens Friday, November 17, 2023, at 5:30 p.m.

When:    Friday, November 17-December 31
               5:30-9:00 p.m.
(closed November 20-23, December 24-25)

Where:   Brookside Gardens | 1800 Glenallan Avenue, Wheaton, MD

Tickets:   Available online only at the Garden of Lights website $10 per person. Everyone 5 years old and up must have a ticket. Event is held rain or shine. Tickets are nonrefundable.

 Garden of Lights is a one-half mile, walk-through, outdoor exhibit featuring twinkling lights formed into tunnels, flowers, animals, and other natural elements.
“We know Garden of Lights is a winter tradition, visitors return year after year, often with their whole family” said Brookside Gardens Director Stephanie Oberle. “This year, we have a new feature in the Azalea Garden: a curtain of lights shimmering overhead that moves in time to music, providing a magical experience.” 

Hot drinks and light refreshments will be available for purchase. The Brookside Gardens Visitor Center will be open so visitors can access restrooms and visit the Gift Shop which will be selling unique seasonal items that make great souvenirs or gifts.

The Garden Railway exhibit is open for viewing during the Conservatory’s daytime hours from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Saturday, November 25-Sunday, January 1 (closed on December 24 and 25). The Garden Railway exhibit will be closed during Garden of Lights hours.

Note: Brookside Gardens’ buildings and grounds will close to the public at 4 p.m. each day during Garden of Lights then reopen for the ticketed event at 5:30 p.m.
