10-Car Collision Blocks I-270 at Shady Grove Rd Monday Morning

Update: All lanes of NB I-270 at Exit 8 have cleared.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded to a collision on I-270 North between Shady Grove Rd and I-370 on Monday morning around 8:45am.

According to MCFRS Spokesperson David Pazos, the collision involved ten vehicles (with one auto extrication.) Currently, all express lanes are blocked while fire and rescue evaluates and transports drivers. Vehicles on both sides of the Express Lanes are affected.

Per the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC) Program: “Multi-Vehicle Crash. I-270 NB at Shady Grove Road (Exit 8). Montgomery County, MD. All travel lanes are blocked. Traffic is diverted to the Local Lanes. One left lane of the Local Lanes is blocked as well. Delays are building.”
