MCFRS Respond to House Fire Monday Morning

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire in the 2300blk of Pondside Ter, off of Long Mead Crossing Dr in Layhill on Monday, December 11.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire was located in a bathroom of the single-family house. The occupants were alerted by smoke alarm and were able to safely exit the home. The cause/origin of the fire was a malfunctioning dehumidifier. The residents likely prevented rapid spreading of the fire by closing the bathroom door. There were no reported injuries and damage is estimated less than $10,000.
