Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Work Zone Wednesday Morning; Driver Flees Scene


Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Wednesday, December 13, around 10am.
According to police, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver in a work zone in the area of eastbound I-495 and Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring. The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the fatal pedestrian crash to contact the Rockville Barrick at 301-424-2101. Callers may remain confidential.

The investigation continues at the scene while two lanes remain blocked. Drivers should expect delays and plan an alternate route. We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.
