Update: All EB lanes of the Intercounty Connection (MD 200) just prior to Exit 8 ( Georgia Ave/MD 97) have reopened.
According to the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security, a collision reconstruction investigation closes all eastbound lanes of the Intercounty Connector (MD 200) just prior to Exit 8 (Georgia Ave/MD 97) on Sunday morning, December 17.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer reports that the collision occurred around 4am and involved multiple vehicles, including a tractor trailer. Emergency medical services treated eight patients at the scene, including one fatality. Six patients were transported to the hospital, including three with life-threating injuries. Approximately 40 firefighters responded to the scene.
Piringer tweeted, “(~4a) ICC EB MD200 IAO Georgia Ave- collision, multiple vehicles, involving tractor trailer, w/ entrapment (2 trapped occupants in 2 separate vehicles) MCI Mass Casualty Incident, @MCFRS_EMIHS transported Three (3) Pri 1, One (1) Pri 2, One (1) Pri 3, One (1) Pri 4, two refusals”
