A Rockville woman is $50,000 richer after purchasing a winning lottery ticket at Maryland Live Casino in Arundel Mills. Full story below courtesy of the Maryland Lottery:

“A Montgomery County woman turned a broken vehicle and a nagging spouse into a $50,000 Pick 5 prize in the Dec. 17 drawing.

The big winner said she is having issues with her car and has filled out a repair claim form for a mechanic. She did not take the car into the shop right away and her husband kept asking her, “When are you going to get that car fixed?”

The Rockville resident told Lottery officials that she was growing tired of hearing his question. Then, she saw the five-digit number on the claim form for her car and decided to play it on a Pick 5 ticket.

The lucky lady purchased just one ticket, placing a $1 straight bet using the number and her car repair claim form number was drawn that evening. The retail worker said she was riding in the car with her sister and decided to check her numbers on her phone. When she saw she matched all five, she let out a big cheer.

“It was a loud scream. I think I scared my sister,” she said.

The happy winner is undecided on how she will spend her prize, but said it could go toward her family. She credits her husband’s nagging about fixing the car for her win and added that the car is still not fixed.

“Maybe I will just buy a new car instead,” she said, jokingly.

The anonymous winner bought her lucky ticket at Maryland Live Casino, 7002 Arundel Mills in Hanover. The Anne Arundel County casino will receive a $500 bonus for selling the ticket.

Pick 5 players can benefit from a flurry of prizes issued through an ongoing Let it Snow promotion. Now through Dec. 31, play Pick 3, Pick 4 and Pick 5, and you could win a FREE $2 or $5 Instant Win voucher or a FREE $5 Snowflake Ca$h FAST PLAY ticket.
