Update: Detectives Investigating Fatal December 26 Collision

Note: A GoFundMe has been started for the family of  Daniela Pineda, who was killed in the crash.

Per MCPD: “Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

At approximately 12:16 p.m., 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Frederick Road and Wheatfield Drive for the report of a two-vehicle collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a blue 2007 Honda Civic was traveling south on Frederick Road, when for reasons unknown, the driver crossed the median and struck a white, 2021 Ford Transit Van traveling northbound.

The adult male driver of the white Ford was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The adult female driver of the blue Honda was transported, in critical condition to an area hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The decedent has been identified as 20-year-old, Daniela Fernanda Pineda of Gaithersburg.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
