Last week, the owner of Montgomery County’s only Mister Softee franchise announced that the ice cream truck would not be returning for the 2024 season.
In the message, he stated that the situation was outside of his control and that it was “not a merit based decision.” He also expressed gratitude to the community for the support over the past three years.
Mister Softee trucks are best known for their sundaes, cones, milkshakes, cartwheels (ice cream sandwiches), and trademark jingle. According to its website, “Mister Softee is the largest franchiser of soft ice cream trucks in the United States.”
In May, MoCo’s Mister Softee was ranked #12 in Mr. MoCo’s 15 Favorite Ice Cream Spots in MoCo list.
Per @mocosoftee on Instagram: “Half of life is what happens to you, the other half is how you react. Trying to react now with grace and gratitude. I’ll hopefully be able to share more when it becomes legally advisable. Thank you all for an incredible 3 years. Best of luck to my fellow SBO’s and to everyone involved in making Moco Softee a success.”
