M&N’s Pizza at 4914 Del Ray Ave in Bethesda has come in at #82 on Yelp’s Top 100 US Restaurants of 2024 list.
The restaurant is known for its “Whacky Pizzas”, which include flavors such as Spicy Chicken Curry, Thai, and Kadhai Paneer.
Owner Manoj Mehta tells us, “I was born and raised in India and moved to the USA in 2001. I settled in the DC area in 2004, where I met my wife, Nazaneen, the same year. She was born in Afghanistan and at a young age left as a refugee when the turmoil started in the 1980s. She moved to the USA along with her family and settled in the DC area in 1988.
We founded M&N’s pizza in Bethesda in 2006. Initially it was all regular fare with pizzas, subs, salads etc. After one of our customers kept pushing us, in 2008 we added a small line of curries as well. In 2011 we started experimenting with curries and pizzas and the first 2 pizzas on the menu were Spicy Chicken Curry and vegetarian Kadhai Paneer. They became quite popular and till date they are the best sellers in Non-veg and Veg categories. Over the years we have added several fusion pizzas, now totalling 30 representing 8 different countries, with more on the horizon.
Nazaneen is very passionate about making good food that will make people happy. All the sauces and curries used on pizzas are made in house by her. We have worked hard and tirelessly to continually improve our pizzas. It hasn’t been easy, but our motivation is the positive feedback from our customers that keeps us going. We are forever indebted to our customers, as their unwavering support has led us to where we are.
When we heard the news that we made it to Yelp’s Top 100 places to eat in the USA, it was very exciting and emotional at the same time. It is a great feeling to get that recognition, to get the comfort knowing that hard work pays off. We are very excited and thankful to God.”
