MCPS Celebrates Black History Month

Montgomery County Public Schools recently shared two ways the school system has celebrated black history month in their weekly “5 Things To Know” message to the community. They can be seen below:

The Montgomery County Council recently recognized Montgomery Blair High School teacher Kenneth Smith for helping develop and teach the Hip Hop History and Culture social studies course, which is also offered at Bethesda-Chevy Chase and Rockville high schools.

Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones was also a guest reader at Fairland Elementary School (14315 Fairdale Roadx Silver Spring, MD 20905) during the school’s Black History Month recognition. The featured photo above shows Chief Jones with students and staff from the school.
