Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the report of a vehicle fire (Wegmans tractor-trailer) around 5:30am on Thursday, February 8, on Observation Dr. in Germantown.
Chief Spokesman for MCFRS Pete Piringer tweeted, “tractor trailer hauling (contents) food products, fire basically extinguished (still some smoldering), contents will need to be removed, hazardous road conditions, road closed, some lanes blocked, no injuries”
There were no reported injuries and HAZMAT is on scene to assist with the fuel spill. Observation Dr. was closed between Shakespeare Blvd. and Ridge Rd. for an extended period. Drivers should expect residual delays.
We will provide an update if addition information becomes available.
