Update: 27-Year-Old Gaithersburg Man Struck and Killed by Driver Tuesday Night

Montgomery County Police have released additional information regarding a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Tuesday, February 13.

Per the news release: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred in the 9500 block of Georgia Avenue near Flora Lane on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

At approximately 8:04 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The investigation has revealed that the driver of a gray 2020 Honda CR-V was traveling northbound on Georgia Avenue when he struck an adult male who was in the roadway near Flora Lane. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene. Initially, there were reports that a second vehicle may have hit the pedestrian. This was proven unfounded.

Officers located the pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent has been identified as 27-year-old Khalid Shakir Scriven, of Gaithersburg. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
