A Montgomery County resident is $50,000 richer after purchasing a winning lottery ticket from Wheaton Winery at 2211-B University Blvd. on February 14. Full story below courtesy of the Maryland Lottery.

“A Silver Spring Pick 5 fan scored more than just love on Feb. 14 when he won the biggest prize of his life with just a $1 straight bet. The self-proclaimed “lifetime player,” who has been playing the Lottery since 1993, bought his Evening Pick 5 tickets on Valentine’s Day while purchasing wine for a romantic evening with his wife. He always plays his license plate number, sometimes in different orders. His approach landed him a prize of $50,000.

The Montgomery County resident checked his tickets online the following day, and quietly celebrated the big win. He went to a 7-Eleven to confirm the prize, but has kept news of his good fortune a secret. He plans to use the money to buy his daughter a car and help with her college tuition.

The Lottery retailer, Wheaton Winery at 2211-B University Blvd. in Silver Spring, will receive a $500 bonus for selling a top-prize Pick 5 ticket.”
