
Potomac Local reports that mega gas station/convenience store Buc-ee’s is looking to open its first location in the Greater Washington area.
According to the report, Buc-ee’s has applied for a conditional use permit to build a 74,000 sq ft location on Courthouse Rd, off of exit 140 in Stafford, Va- roughly 52 miles from Bethesda, MD.
Buc-ee’s is know for its Texas barbeque, homemade fudge, Beaver Nuggets, jerky, and merchandise featuring the mascot Buc-ee the beaver. Per the company, “Buc-ee’s is the world’s most-loved travel center. Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s now has 34 stores across Texas, including the world’s largest convenience store, as well as 13 locations in other states. Stafford would be the third Buc-ees location in Virginia. In January, the company broke ground on its upcoming location in Rockingham County, VA. The Rockingham store will be located at the exit 240 interchange along Interstate 81 (located near Harrisonburg, VA)- over 125 miles from most parts of Montgomery County. An additional Buc-ee’s location is also planned for New Kent County, VA, at the exit 211 interchange along Interstate 64- around 140 miles from most parts of Montgomery County.
