On Friday, Governor Wes Moore, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, and the Moore-Miller Administration visited various locations in Montgomery County, including The Music Center at Strathmore, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service’s Search and Rescue Team headquarters, and the Montgomery County Police Department Drone Command Center.

Per the news release:  “I am proud to be back in Montgomery County with our entire cabinet as we work in partnership with our local elected officials to make Maryland safer, more affordable, more competitive, and a state that serves,” said Gov. Moore. “In order to make this Maryland’s decade, we must work together to improve the quality of life of all Marylanders — and I applaud the leaders of Montgomery County – including our elected officials, community organizers, and first responders –  for their dedication to the people they serve.”

After the cabinet meeting, Governor Moore and cabinet secretaries took a bus tour with Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and local elected officials focused on emergency management and public safety. The tour included a visit to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service’s Search and Rescue Team headquarters, where the governor learned more about the emergency response assets, including FEMA trucks and search and rescue canines. On the second stop of the tour, the governor visited the Montgomery County Police Department Drone Command Center, which launched in 2023 and controls the county police’s drone program.

During the day, the lieutenant governor took a bus tour with local elected officials focused on transportation and economic development needs for Montgomery County and included visits to the University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing and GlaxoSmithKline Rockville campus facility. While on the tour county staff led discussions about local priorities, including North Bethesda redevelopment projects, and proposed implementation of the Bus Rapid Transit route on Route 355.

“It was an honor to be back in my home county with our entire Moore-Miller administration cabinet to work hand-in-hand with our local governments to expand the growth industries in our state and address the transportation needs of Marylanders,” said Lt. Gov. Miller. “I appreciated the opportunity to tour two cutting edge research facilities that generate significant economic growth for the County and identify ways to expand Maryland’s cutting-edge STEM economy.”

Cabinet secretaries also visited local businesses and locations around Montgomery County, including the Brookville Bus Depot solar bus charging location, Randolph Road and Bushey Drive affordable housing project, and the Montgomery County Crisis Intervention Team headquarters.
