On Friday, we reported that the Popeyes location inside of the Westfield Wheaton Mall food court (11160 Veirs Mill Rd) had gone dark.
The location was closed and signage had been removed, leading to speculation that the restaurant had permanently closed.
A mall representative has informed us that Popeyes will not be closing; instead, it will undergo remodeling and reopen with new management. No timeframe on reopening has been announced.
The Popeye’s location at Westfield Montgomery Mall (7101 Democracy Blvd) in Bethesda closed back in January.
Popeyes has additional Montgomery County locations in Gaithersburg, Germantown, Olney, Rockville, and Silver Spring.
