The speed cameras that the Rockville City Police Department deployed in the 2500 block of Wootton Parkway, near the intersection with Fairwood Court, back in February are now issuing citations.

Per the news release: In a continuing effort to reduce the number of speeding vehicles in Rockville neighborhoods, the Rockville City Police Department deployed the speed monitoring system in late February in the 2500 block of Wootton Parkway, near its intersection with Fairwood Court. The system uses a portable camera to monitor southbound traffic. Though the monitoring system was fully functional, the city did not issue citations for the first month the camera was deployed.

The city began issuing citations Tuesday, March 26 for vehicles exceeding the posted speed limit of 25 mph by 12 mph or more.
