Department of Environmental Protection Holding Pesticide-Free Lawn Photo Contest

Montgomery County’s Department of Environmental Protection is currently holding a photo contest for organic (pesticide-free) lawns. Photos must be submitted by April 10.

Per the news release: Montgomery County is celebrating five years since legislation was approved eliminating use of toxic pesticides on lawns. To mark the occasion, the County’s Department of Environmental Protection is holding a photo contest that will make good-looking lawns the featured attraction.
Photos must be submitted for consideration by Wednesday, April 10. The winning photos will be displayed for public viewing at Black Rock Center for the Arts in Germantown April 22-27.
Winners will get a print of the finals photo.

Rules for the photo contest include:

  • Photos must be taken of a lawn that is pesticide-free.
  • Photos must be taken in Montgomery County.
  • Entries must include the first and last name of the entering person and the name of the location where the photo was taken.

Montgomery County retains the rights to use submitted photos it for County business purposes.

Photos will be judged in the following categories:

  • People
  • Pets
  • Lawn flowers
  • Livestock
  • Macro
  • Lawn sports or games
