Little Miner Tacos to Leave The Block April 30; Update on New Rockville Location

Last week, we reported that Gong cha and Kyo Matcha (formerly Kyoto Matcha) had both closed inside of The Block Foodhall & Bar at 967 Rose Ave. in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose. We have also learned that Little Miner Taco will be out of The Block on April 30th.

After April 30th, Little Miner will be relocating to a pop-up kitchen at 12712 Rock Creek Mill Rd AA in Rockville while it waits for construction to be completed at its upcoming stand alone location at Rockville Town Square.

Little Miner’s menu consists of Mexican street food, but they’re perhaps best known for their Birria De Res Queso tacos, which consist of braised beef and plenty of cheese, along with a consome for dipping. In a recent interview with, Streetcar Suburbs News, Owner Kathy Voss said that “the key to the homemade flavors at Little Miner is the fresh ingredients and especially the from-scratch cooking of their experienced culinary team, led by executive chef Joel Sánchez.” In regards to their food, she said “How do we come up with great Mexican cuisine? We hired great Mexican chefs.”

The Rockville Town Square location is expected to open in early summer.

Right now the future of The Block is uncertain. We spoke to a representative from The Block in March who told us that “we may close, we may stay open.” There is an additional The Block location in a Annandale, VA who tells that they are no longer affiliated with the Pike & Rose location.
