Duke’s Grocery, a DC-based, East London-inspired gastropub, has announced it will be opening a location this fall at 10128 River Road in the Potomac Village shopping center. The restaurant will be located in the space previously occupied by Lock 72 Kitchen & Bar, which closed in October 2023.

According to Duke’s, “Guests at the Potomac location can expect the menu to include Duke’s Grocery staples such as massive sarnies (sandwiches), seasonal bevvies (cocktails), hearty salads, local beers, and a robust wine list alongside crowd favourites such as the Proper Burger®, white truffle mac and cheese, fish and chips, and full English breakfasts during brunch.

Duke’s Grocery Potomac will have a 32-seat dining room, a separate bar area that will seat 14 at Duke’s Grocery’s signature coppertop bar along with high-top tables seating 10, banquettes seating 16, and outdoor tables seating 24. Award-winning DC firm Studio/3877 is curating the layout and design.

Duke’s Grocery quickly instilled a loyal following with its neighbourly atmosphere, generous portions and reasonable prices. Among numerous awards are Washington City Paper’s Best of DC Best Burger from 2016 to 2023, Washingtonian Readers’ Favorite Burger from 2020 to 2023, and Best Brunch Awards from the RAMMYs and City Paper voters. The original Duke’s Grocery in Dupont Circle opened in 2013 and will reopen soon from renovations, Duke’s Counter Woodley Park in 2016, Duke’s Grocery Foggy Bottom in 2019, Duke’s Grocery British Embassy in 2021, and Duke’s Grocery Navy Yard in 2023.”

“Our goal everywhere we operate is to be fully engaged with the local community,” says Managing Partner, Daniel Kramer. “We are very much looking forward to being a part of Potomac Village.”
