A happy Montgomery County man enjoyed a winning hot streak that ended with a $100,000 top prize on the 50X The Cash scratch-off. It started when he won $50 on an instant ticket. The Gaithersburg resident used those winnings to purchase five $10 50X The Cash scratch-offs at Check Cash Depot in Gaithersburg and just kept winning. One of his scratch-offs revealed a $500 prize and the next instant ticket was the $100,000 winner.

“I was happy and pleased. I have been playing for a long time,” said the instant ticket fan.

He was scratching off the instant ticket and revealed a “10X” symbol, with a prize of $10,000 beneath the symbol. The loyal player thought he had won $10,000, but the rules of the game state that the prize shown gets multiplied by 10. That boosted the payout to $100,000.

The maintenance worker said he plans to put the money in the bank for now and might purchase a house once the housing market stabilizes.

His lucky Lottery retailer is Check Cash Depot located 114 Diamond Avenue in Montgomery County. The Gaithersburg store receives a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.

The 50X The Cash game, which went on sale in January along with a Multiplier family of games, has a second-chance promotion offering three more drawings with the chance to win $50,000 or $75,000 prizes.

Four of the 10 $100,000 instant-win top prizes are still unclaimed. Five $50,000 prizes and 13 $10,000 prizes also await discovery, along with prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
