Planet Fitness, known for its $10 basic gym membership, has announced it will be increasing the price to $15 a month for new members. Members with existing $10 memberships will see no change. The $10 membership rate has been in effect since 1998.
According to USA Today, the increase is expected to begin at some point this summer. The chain is also expected to increase the price of its $24.99 Black Card membership at some point. Black Card membership entitles members the use of massage beds, tanning booths, and access to all 2,500+ Planet Fitness locations.
Planet Fitness has Montgomery County locations in Gaithersburg, Germantown, Rockville, Silver Spring, Takoma Park, and Wheaton/Glenmont.
