Two Maryland Campgrounds Ranked Top 10 in Northeast

The Dyrt, a popular app among campers, has announced the winners of its 2024 Best Places to Camp in the Northeast Region. The awards are based on reviews and ratings from the site’s large community of campers. Included on the list are Cherry Hill Park (College Park, MD) at number 4 and Oceanside Assateague Campground (Assateague Island) at number 9.

Per The Dyrt: “Camping is more of a year-round activity now than it’s ever been, but I still love May because it’s the traditional beginning of the camping season, and we get to unveil our annual lists of the Best Places to Camp in each region of the country,” says Sarah Smith, founder of The Dyrt. “On this year’s lists we see private campgrounds that are working harder than ever to provide the amenities that campers desire these days, while also remaining true to the essence of providing an experience in nature. Letchworth State Park Campground — New York

Keuka Lake State Park, in the Finger Lakes region of New York, is ranked No. 1 in the Northeast Region. Rounding out the Top 3 are two places on the opposite ends of the spectrum — Town Hall Road Dispersed in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Normandy Farms Campground, an RV resort just outside of Boston. A desirable setting, from the mountains to the woods to the ocean, is never too far away in the Northeast.

“Assateague National Seashore on the Maryland side offers an incredible experience,” says The Dyrt camper Emily C. after her stay at the No. 9 campground on the list. “Along with soft sand, balmy breezes and coastal views, wild horses wander the park at will.”

The Dyrt’s 2024 Camping Report Presented by the All-New Toyota Tacoma found that nearly 85 million Americans went camping last year. With that many people and that much demand, “the perfect camping trip” can mean so many different things. The 2024 Best Places to Camp Regional Awards reflect that.
