
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire in the 20200blk of Thunderhead Way, off Waters Landing Way in Germantown at approximately 2pm on Monday, May 20, for the report of a fire.
According to Pete Piringer, Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS, firefighters arrived to find a deck fire that had spread to all levels of the home, including the basement and attic, before being contained. The fire also spread to the neighboring home. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and under investigation.
The estimated damage is $400,000. No injuries were reported, but several dogs are unaccounted for and presumed dead. Two families have been displaced: four adults and two children from the home where the fire originated, and two adults and one child from the neighboring home.
