MCFRS Responding to Multiple Building Collapses in Gaithersburg; Tornado Confirmed in Montgomery County

Update: MCFRS is setting Area Command at 16529 South Frederick Ave in Gaithersburg and dispatching resources to assess area damage and needs. Contact 911 if you have an emergency.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) are currently responded to reports of multiple structural collapses with entrapments in Gaithersburg.

According to MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer, rescue crews are currently responding to:

  • 400blk of Dogwood Dr for a tree into a house, causing a building collapse. 911 is in contact with 5 occupants trapped in home. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been started for the family.
  • 200 Rolling Rd., Gaithersburg, structure collapse with entrapment
  • 3 Holly Dr., Gaithersburg, structural collapse with entrapment
According to the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, “a confirmed tornado  has been located over Gaithersburg. A Tornado Warning  is active for Gaithersburg, Olney & Montgomery Village MD until 8:15 PM. Shelter in a sturdy building away from windows. DO NOT DRIVE IN THESE CONDITIONS. Find a safe place to shelter now!”
