Maryland Casinos Generate $173.2 Million in Gaming Revenue During May; Casinos Contribute $74,449,247 Million to the State

According to Maryland Lottery and Gaming, Maryland’s six casinos generated a combined $173,152,961 in revenue from slot machines and table games in May 2024, marking the ninth-highest single-month total in the history of the state’s casino program. This represents an increase of $3,751,595 (2.2%) compared to May 2023. Contributions to the state from casino gaming in May 2024 totaled $74,449,247, up by $3,617,661 (5.1%) from May 2023.

Per the news release: “Contributions to the Education Trust Fund during May 2024 were $53,663,328, an increase of $2,174,989  (4.2%) compared to May 2023. Casino gaming revenues also support the communities and jurisdictions where the casinos are located, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and small, minority- and women-owned businesses.

Maryland’s six privately owned casinos offer both slot machines and table games: MGM National Harbor in Prince George’s County; Live! Casino & Hotel in Anne Arundel County; Horseshoe Casino Baltimore in Baltimore City; Ocean Downs Casino in Worcester County; Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County; and Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County.

The gaming revenue totals for May 2024 are as follows:

MGM National Harbor (2,285 slot machines, 207 table games)

$72,267,476 in May 2024, an increase of $550,561 (0.8%) from May 2023

Live! Casino & Hotel (3,839 slot machines, 179 table games)

$65,032,889 in May 2024, an increase of $6,098,296 (10.3%) from May 2023

Horseshoe Casino (1,373 slot machines, 115 table games)

$14,723,010 in May 2024, a decrease of $2,793,033 (-15.9%) from May 2023

Ocean Downs Casino (871 slot machines, 19 table games)

$8,351,868 in May 2024, a decrease of $50,243 (-0.6%) from May 2023

Hollywood Casino (721 slot machines, 23 table games)

$7,806,954 in May 2024, an increase of $204,423 (2.7%) from May 2023

Rocky Gap Casino (641 slot machines, 16 table games)

$4,970,763 in May 2024, a decrease of $258,409 (-4.9%) from May 2023
