The final episode of wheel of Fortune hosted by Maryland resident Pat Sajak will air on Friday, June 7. Sajak began hosting the game show in 1981.
Sajak and his wife Lesly Brown-Sajak are longtime residents of Severna Park, MD. He has received 19 nominations for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host, winning three times. As a longtime Maryland resident, he has become an avid fan of the Washington Capitals and has been a season-ticket holder, making an on-ice appearances, for years- including prior to Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals in 2018.
Sajak’s co-host Vanna White, who joined the show in 1982, will remain on the show alongside new host Ryan Seacrest.
Sajak announced his retirement on Twitter back in June 2023, “Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!).”
