Library Evacuated After Driver Crashes Into Building

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the Davis Library at 6400 Democracy Blvd in Bethesda at approximately 4:30pm on Tuesday, July 16, after a vehicle struck a gas meter attached to the building.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the library and daycare were evacuated and air-conditioned buses were brought in for sheltering of the evacuates.

Washington Gas is currently at the scene and the damaged gas meter has been controlled. Bells Mill Rd is currently closed at Democracy Blvd.
