In May, we reported that Peter Chang at 20-A Maryland Ave in Rockville Town Square was recently sold and rebranding to Kung Fu Kitchen. The restaurant features a new menu by Chef MingYang Fang that offers a range of Chinese cuisines, including Sichuan, Hunan, Huaiyang, and Cantonese dishes.
Per Kung Fu Kitchen: “Kungfu Kitchen is excited to announce its grand opening at the former Peter Chang location in downtown Rockville. With new ownership comes a fresh start, featuring an entirely new menu, delightful teas, stylish decor, and upgraded seating, including tables that can accommodate parties of up to 45 people.Chef MingYang Fang hails from a small village in central China. At 15, he ventured to the Jiangnan region to master his culinary skills. Specializing in Huaiyang, Sichuan, and Hunan cuisines, Chef Fang has served as head chef in several prestigious hotels across the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang. He also spent a year in Toyama, Japan, where he infused Chinese flavors into a renowned local restaurant, winning the hearts of diners. His culinary journey continued in South Korea for three years before moving to the U.S. in 2013 with his wife, Aixia Wu.
