Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) are actively assisting in a search operation for a missing person presumed to have drowned in the Potomac River, in coordination with Frederick County authorities. The missing person is believed to have entered the water near Point of Rocks in Frederick County.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the search spans the area between Point of Rocks and Edwards Ferry, with multiple MCFRS water rescue units (SW714, SW730, SW730B) deployed. Crews have been searching since yesterday, and efforts resumed this morning, with additional resources (SW710, SW710B) scheduled to join the search this afternoon as part of the ongoing operation.
