Below is a list of businesses that have recently opened or are coming soon to Westfield Montgomery Mall (7101 Democracy Blvd) in Bethesda:
Coming Soon: Falafel Inc will be taking over the space recently occupied by Butter Chicken House, next to Chick-Fil-A. The DC-based quick service chain serves falafel, hummus, bowls and sides like Zaatar fries and Tabouli salad. Falafel Inc partners with the World Food Programme, a humanitarian food organization that assists refugees across the globe. Describing itself as “the world’s first falafel fast casual food social enterprise franchise,” Falafel Inc emphasizes its “Eat For Good” ethos, serving authentic, all-natural, freshly made vegetarian dishes. The restaurant currently operates locations across Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia, and New Jersey.

Coming Soon: Subway
Subway is set to open in the former space of J. Chow’s, which closed in December 2023. With nearly 37,000 locations worldwide, Subway is one of the largest restaurant chains globally. In 2021, a Subway-inspired eatery called Big Al’s briefly operated in the mall but closed after just six months.


Coming Soon: Abercrombie & Fitch / Abercrombie & Fitch Kids
Abercrombie & Fitch and Abercrombie Kids are “coming soon” to the upper level of the mall. Abercrombie’s previous location in Montgomery Mall closed in January 2021. There are nearby locations in Tysons Corner and Leesburg, VA. Abercrombie is best known for their casual clothing, jeans, and fragrances. The store is scheduled to open in November.

Coming Soon: Kapow Buddy
Kapow Buddy, a Thai restaurant offering “Bowl Style” Thai cuisine, is scheduled to open this month. The restaurant will be taking over the space that was recently home to Butter Me Up at the Old Navy Wing on the lower level of the mall. Menu offerings include “Thai Street Bowls” (priced at $11.50 on the Kapow Buddy website), and other Thai “street snacks” that range in price from $8-$12. The restaurant’s website can be seen here.


Coming Soon: Carter’s
“Coming soon” and “now hiring” signage is up for Carter’s on the lower level of the mall. According to its website, “Carter’s is the leading brand of baby & kids clothing in the United States. Our designs are based on a heritage of quality and innovation that has earned us the trust of generations. Little Baby Basics, the original bodysuit and America’s Favorite Jammies are just a few of the iconic products parents count on to make their lives easier. And with sizes and styles to fit babies, toddlers and kids – thanks to our newly expanded Carter’s KID™collection – Carter’s delivers quality clothing to handle everything from that first night at home to first days at school.” Carter’s has additional Montgomery County locations in Clarks, Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, and Wheaton. The store is scheduled to open in November.

Coming Soon: Peter Mason by Montgomery Custom Tailors
Peter Mason by Montgomery Custom Tailors is set to open soon on the lower level of Montgomery Mall, across from the Cheesecake Factory. The shop is being launched by Peter and Lisa Lim, who also own Montgomery Custom Tailors, located nearby on the lower level near the escalator to the food court, close to Lucky Strike. The Lims opened their first store at Annapolis Mall in 1983 and have been at Montgomery Mall for 25 years, since 1998. Both locations will remain open, with Peter Mason expected to open by the end of September.

Coming Soon: Kelly’s Cajun Grill
Signage is up for Kelly’s Cajun Grill, which will be located between Panda Express and Sarku Japan in the mall’s dining terrace. Kelly’s is known for its “world famous” bourbon chicken, blackened fish, and Cajun shrimp. Kelly’s was previously located at Lakeforst Mall in Gaithersburg and was one of the last remaining tenants at the time of the mall’s closure.
According to its website, “In 1991, Kelly’s Cajun Grill became the home of the World Famous Bourbon Chicken when it opened its first restaurant in the Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise, Florida. The delicious food and innovative concept fueled the company’s rapid expansion, even surpassing all of IRMG’s other concepts combined. Kelly’s Cajun Grill is a proven concept with an excellent track record. The operations are very streamlined and the restaurants are capable of producing very high sales volumes with a very limited amount of space. Our world famous Bourbon Chicken is a delicious yet healthy dish made with fresh grilled chicken and our own special blend of sauces and seasonings. Other favorites include Blackened Chicken, Blackened Fish, Shrimp Etouffee, Cajun Spicy Chicken, as well as a variety of delicious side dishes.”

Coming Soon: Tory Burch
Signage is now up for Tory Burch. The luxury women’s brand, known for its shoes, handbags, accessories, jewelry, and watches, will be located on the mall’s upper level and is expected to open in November.

Coming Soon: The Jam
The Jam, an art gallery and retail shop that showcases independent artists, designers and creators, is almost ready to open. Featured artists announced include Maggie O’Neill and Paul Wharton. The Jam will be located in the space previously occupied by the Wentworth Gallery on the mall’s upper level next to Nordstrom. A sneak peak from The Jam’s Instagram below:

Rebrand: Vydration
The B12 Store has rebranded to Vydration. Vydration, a combination of the words vitamin and hydration, is a Maryland based health and wellness company that is “dedicated to helping patients look great and feel their best.”
“The only thing changing is the name,” said Dr. Daniel Omire-Mayor who serves as the B12 Store and now Vydration’s Medical Director. Omire-Mayor is responsible for overseeing medical
services, customer safety and quality of care. “Vydration will continue offering vitamin injections, in-store IV therapy, and medical weight loss, while also allowing us to expand into new product
lines and services, including medical grade beauty products and in-home IV therapy,” said Omire-Mayor.

J. Crew
J. Crew has moved to a new, larger location on the lower level of the mall. J.Crew is known for its “modern, timeless clothing, and offers a variety of products, including Cashmere, Coats, Blazers, Pants, Sweaters, Denim, Dresses, Suiting, and Jewelry.”

Donutchew:
Donutchew, which has been operating from a “pop up” kiosk in the food court since December, has moved to its permanent location in the spot most recently occupied by Adonni’s Desserts, next to Macy’s and across from Chocolate Moonshine. Donutchew offers a variety of mochi donut flavors, sweet and savory croffles (croissant and waffle mix), macarons, bubble tea, and more and has an additional Montgomery County location in Gaithersburg (RIO).

Reopened: Squishable, a pop-up shop that sells hundreds of varieties of stuffed animals that are “cute giant balls of squishy love that are soft, huggable, cuddly, and all-around awesome,” has reopened after being closed for part of the summer. It is located in the lower level of the mall near Bath & Body Works. According to its website, “Squishable was started in 2007 by co-founders Aaron and Zoe. They didn’t know anything about toys, but they figured it out. Over the last decade and a half, we have released millions of Squishables to their new homes in the wild. Here at Squishy HQ in Soho, New York City, we’re creating things that help make the world a cuter place.”


Recently Opened: Kafean Koffee
Kafean Koffee opened on the lower level of the mall in late August, in the kiosk that was previously home to Moorenko’s. KaFean specializes in espresso drinks and pastries. It joins Starbucks and Nordstrom Marketplace Cafe as another option for getting your caffeine fix while you shop.

Recently Opened: Sheepskin Gifts & Alpaca Too
Seasonal retailer Sheepskin Gifts & Alpaca Too, known for its annual holiday pop-up, returned in September. The store features a range of sheepskin and alpaca products, including boots, sandals, rugs, throws, and steering wheel covers. It is located on the lower level in the center of the mall.
