Sole D’Italia Restaurant, located at 14324 Layhill Rd in the Layhill Shopping Center, has been closed for nearly a week, according to reports from several customers. The restaurant’s doors are locked, and repeated attempts to reach them by phone over the past few days have gone unanswered.
The restaurant, a Silver Spring staple since 1974, was sold by its original owners, “Papa” Nick and Frank Gambo, two years ago. Under the new ownership, a portion of the restaurant was transformed into a nightclub called Embassy Lounge at Sole D’Italia, while most of the original Sole D’Italia menu remained available.
The menu featured a variety of items, including pizza, pastas, wings, salads, calzones, stromboli, and subs. We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.
