Update: All southbound lanes of I-270 just past Exit 11 (Quince Orchard Rd/MD 124) have reopened.
A collision has blocked the three right lanes of southbound I-270 past Exit 11 in Gaithersburg on Tuesday, October 22.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the collision involved multiple vehicles and a tractor trailer with a ruptured fuel saddle tank. Hazmat is on scene pumping remaining diesel. Only one lane of traffic getting by.
Alert Montgomery issues the following at 3:36pm: “Severe Traffic Alert: Traffic incident blocks the three right lanes of southbound I-270 just past Exit 11 (Quince Orchard Rd/MD 124). This may be an extended event. Seek alternate route.”
