Each year, the Restaurant Association of Maryland (RAM) presents annual awards for various “front of house” and “back of house” positions. This year, Chef Gregory Webb of Laperaux Bistro in Germantown is Montgomery County’s only finalist for the ‘Chef of the Year’ award. Webb was also nominated in 2024.
The awards honor individuals who showcase exceptional skill, dedication, and leadership in the restaurant industry. After public nominations, RAM selects five finalists in each category for public voting. Voting is open from January 1-31, with winners announced at the RAM Awards Gala on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Ocean City Convention Center.
Chef Gregory Webb has earned such accolades and awards as “Chef of the Year 1998” in Houston, Texas, “Winner all Categories” at the Texas Open Wild Game Cookoff, “Top Chefs of Mexico City” and many other awards in the past. Last year he opened the French bistro in Germantown, offering “high casual cuisine” created by the chef. Webb has competed against Bobby Flay on The Food Network, and won numerous ‘chopped style’ competitions put on for various local charity and fund raising events, including DC Central Kitchen’s Chefs Cook Off.
