The Safeway at 1800 Rockville Pike, located on the ground level of the Galvan at Twinbrook complex, has begun a store closing sale. Currently, the store is offering 30% off select merchandise, including frozen groceries, household items, and health and beauty products. Items excluded from the discount include bakery goods, fresh and frozen meat, seafood, soda, deli and fresh produce.
When the store opened, it was considered the replacement for two nearby Safeway locations that closed– Loehmann’s Plaza on Randolph Rd. and Twinbrook Center on Veirs Mill Rd. The store is currently planned to close in April
Go Fresh 365, which describes itself as a “Chinese/Asian supermarket chain,” has been named as the Safeway replacement in an email sent to residents by management of the Galvan at Twinbrook. The e-mail, which can be seen in full below, contains early renderings (subject to change) that are also available below.
Dear Residents,
We want to share some important news regarding a change at The Galvan at Twinbrook. As you may have heard, Safeway will be closing its doors in April of this year (MCS). While we know this may bring a period of transition, we are pleased to announce that a new grocer, Go Fresh, will be taking over the space!
Go Fresh is an emerging grocery brand with existing locations in the area, and while we are still learning more about their offerings, we’re excited about the potential they bring to the community. They plan to build on their current success by introducing a new, exciting concept that includes a food court-style environment alongside their traditional grocery section, enhancing both convenience and variety for residents. Based on the initial renderings we’ve received, their vision includes a fresh, modern space designed to enhance the shopping experience for residents and visitors alike.
We’re happy to share these early renderings with you attached! Please note that these are preliminary concepts, and the final design may evolve as the project progresses.
We are excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to see the positive impact Go Fresh will have on The Galvan at Twinbrook. Stay tuned for more updates!
