Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School on Precautionary Lockdown Following Reports of Shots Fired Nearby

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) responded to a report of shots fired on Wednesday morning in Bethesda.

MCPD issued the following incident alert at 11:06am: “MCPD is on scene of a shots fired call in the 4700 block of Chase Ave. As a precaution, Bethesda Chevy Chase H.S. is on lockdown. There are no reported victims and no one in custody.”

12:14pm Update: Bethesda Chevy Chase H.S. remains on lockdown as Park Police Montgomery County is now investigating the shots fired call. The reported shooting was not on school grounds.

12:32pm Update by Park Police: “At 10am our officers, along with @mcpnews responded to Chase Ave Urban Park located at 4701 Chase Ave in Bethesda, for a fight in progress with the sound of shots. No victim was located, and no suspect is in custody. BCC High School was placed on lockdown as a precaution.”

1:34pm Update: “Bethesda Chevy Chase H.S. is transitioning to a shelter in place.“

2:20pm Update: The Bethesda Chevy Chase H.S. shelter in place remains in effect. Students will be dismissed at their regularly scheduled time.
