House Fire Causes $100K in Damage; 50 Firefighters Respond, Two Displaced

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house fire on Northfield Road in Bethesda on Wednesday evening, where crews found flames extending to the first and second floors.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the home was unoccupied at the time, and neighbors reported seeing smoke. Investigators determined the fire was accidental, caused by a damaged fireplace box affecting an electrical circuit. The blaze resulted in approximately $100,000 in damage, displaced two residents, and required a response from over 50 firefighters. No injuries were reported and there was no smoke alarm in the home.
