Fire Involving Lithium-Ion Batteries Causes $75K in Damage

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire at a commercial building on Cessna Avenue in Gaithersburg around 1:30am on Monday.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, firefighters encountered flames involving lithium-ion batteries, with hazmat teams assisting. The fire was determined to be accidental, causing an estimated $75,000 in damages, with no reported injuries.
