Local Butcher Named Finalist for “Hottest Sandwich Shop”

SOKO Butcher, a neighborhood butchery that opened at 7306 Carroll Ave in Takoma Park in 2022, has been named a finalist in the “Hottest Sandwich Shop of the Year” category in the 2025 Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington‘s RAMMY awards.

Soko Butcher offers locally sourced meats, sandwiches, house-made charcuterie, and bone broths. The business emphasizes ethical and sustainable farming practices in its sourcing.

The sandwich menu includes options such as:

  • THE TAKOMA 
    Italian roll with salami, ham, pepperoni, capicola, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, tomato, pickled onions, banana peppers, olive artichoke tapenade, mayo, and oil & vinegar.

  • THE ATTACK OF THE MACK 
    Sub roll with seasoned chicken tenders, mac n cheese, fry aioli, and a fried pickle.

  • THE MONTREAL 
    Rye bread with housemade pastrami, sauerkraut, and Soko sauce.

  • THE PHILLY 
    French roll with prime rib, caramelized onions, housemade cheese wiz, and mayo.

  • SMASHED SOKO 
    Potato bun with two dry-aged beef patties, American cheese, and mayo

Winners will be announced on Sunday, August 3rd, at the RAMMYS Awards & Gala at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
