Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a report of smoke coming from the roof of a single‐family home in the 22700 block of Frederick Road in Clarksburg on Tuesday morning.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, firefighters discovered a fire in the first‐floor kitchen. No injuries were reported during the initial response.
A Tuesday night update stated that the fire originated in the kitchen area and was categorized as arson/incendiary, likely started with an open flame. Total damage was estimated at approximately $110,000, including about $100,000 in structural damage. Around 50 firefighters were on scene.
Investigators from Montgomery County Fire/Explosive Investigators are seeking information regarding the fire of suspicious origin or arson at 22721 Frederick Road. Witnesses reported observing children running from the house shortly before the fire was reported. Anyone with information is asked to call the MCFRS ARSON Tipline at 240.777.2263.
