Local Heroes: Old Glory DC Players to Represent USA Rugby Eagles in Summer Test Match Against England (sponsored)

Rugby fans in the D.C. region have a reason to cheer even louder this summer: several standout players from Old Glory DC, the DMV’s own professional rugby team, will represent the United States as USA Rugby Eagles in a major international showdown. On July 19, 2025, Audi Field in Washington, D.C., will host a historic double-header featuring the USA Men’s National Team against England, followed by the USA Women’s Team squaring off with Fiji. This match is part of England’s summer tour and serves as a key opportunity to showcase American talent ahead of the U.S.’s hosting of the 2031 Rugby World Cup.

Among the local athletes stepping onto the international stage is Jack Iscaro, a proud Olney native with deep rugby roots. A product of St. Peter’s in Olney and a Gonzaga College High School standout, Jack led his team to multiple national titles before playing at Cal-Berkeley and training in Scotland. Since joining Old Glory DC during its inaugural 2020 season, he’s become a cornerstone of the team and a role model for local youth. “Rugby can be whatever you want it to be,” Iscaro says. “It can be a way to make friends, or a full-time job that takes you around the world like it has for me; Japan, Portugal, France. It’s all possible.”

Another Eagle, Collin Grosse, brings military precision and grit to the squad. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Grosse and teammate KoiKoi Nelligan have deferred active duty to pursue professional rugby. Originally from Washington State, Grosse found rugby after years of football and wrestling, quickly rising through the ranks. “Rugby is one of the most humbling, team-oriented sports. You can’t score without passing. It’s a game where there’s a position for everyone, regardless of size or background,” Grosse says.

Both athletes play for Old Glory DC, which competes in Major League Rugby and plays home games right in the region at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown throughout the summer. With USA Rugby’s profile growing and the U.S. preparing to host upcoming Rugby World Cups, there’s never been a better time for local fans to get involved and watch top-tier rugby up close.

Before the big international clash at Audi Field, local fans can catch Old Glory DC in action at its next home game on Tuesday, May 13, when the team faces NOLA Gold at George Mason University’s stadium in Fairfax, Virginia. The match will also serve as Military Appreciation Night, honoring active-duty service members and veterans with free entry at the gate with military ID, a special halftime tribute, and the release of a limited-edition Old Glory DC Challenger Coin.
